Israeli singer Idan Raichel will perform with American singer India Arie at the upcoming Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Oslo.
“It’s a great honor,” Raichel told Yedioth Ahronoth. “I am happy about their invitation, which has been extended for the first time to an Israeli musician.”
Arie, a grammy-winning soul singer, revealed during an interview on ABC’s Good Morning America that she and Raichel are collaborating on a new album. They will perform one of the songs on the album, titled “Gift of Acceptance,” during the peace prize event on December 10.
Raichel said he and Arie have been working on the song over the past few months, and that he is very proud of the creation.
“The words of the song talk about the acceptance of other lifestyles, other religions, other loves, other people,” he said. “It’s a statement about my identity as an Israeli artist, and about her as an American.”
