STREET DRUM CORPS ANNOUNCE SPECIAL LOS ANGELES RESIDENCY
For a limited engagement, DGC/Interscope Records band Street Drum Corps bring their brand new all-percussion album Big Noise to life at the Roxy Theatre in Hollywood, CA. Starting November 16th for a 4-week residency on Tuesdays, Bobby Alt, Adam Alt and Frank Zummo will perform their unique brand of drumming via selections from Big Noise and their first two albums We Are Machines (2008) and Street Drum Corps (2006). Special guest stars will make appearances throughout the run.
Big Noise was produced by SDC and Jamie Rise and recorded in Los Angeles at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 and boasts tracks with guest drumming luminaries like Tommy Lee (Motley Crue), Matt Sorum (Velvet Revolver), Shannon Leto (30 Seconds To Mars) and Brandon Sellar (Atreyu). The album will be available exclusively at the Roxy shows.
Drumming is carnal. It’s primeval. A good song hits you in the head, but a good beat nails you in the stomach. In an era of squeaky-clean, polished production, LA-based Street Drum Corps are more important than ever! Born from the bands’ signature style, the Roxy shows are inspired by sources as diverse as punk rock and the Burundi drummers of Africa, mixing both traditional instruments and found objects with elements of dance for a unique and visually captivating performance. While staying true to their tribal roots, the band embraces the undeniable call of industrial music.
Come experience what the LA Weekly calls “A rapturous band of misfit drummers” and what frontman Bobby Alt promises “will blow you away with the heaviest rhythms and cinematic, explosive sound!” Tickets are on sale here.
