In this episode of Geo Sessions, DePedro captivates the crowd with a smooth blend of blues, folk, flamenco, Latin rock, and Afrobeat. DePedro largely credits the diverse background of his parents to the wide mix of styles he incorporates in his music.
A consummate entertainer, DePedro draws on the energy from the crowd and seeks to give it back to them. He views music as a release or an escape for people. “In our profession, I believe the most important thing is to entertain people. To provide an illusion and to try to make people forget about their troubles.” At it’s roots, DePedro sees music as a common force that can draw people from all walks off life together. “It’s a common saying that music is a universal language. But it really is, I mean, it makes us relate with each other. You can travel all around the world and you’ll find something in common.”
Songs like ‘La Memoria,’ ‘Que Pueda Hacer Por Ti, ’Como el Viento,’ and ‘La Llorona’ all show DePedro’s grasp on various styles. They also showcase his world music influences and his desire to entertain.
