India.Arie and Dobet Gnahoré have won the Grammy for Best Urban/Alternative Performance for the song “Pearls”. India.Arie accepted the award on behalf of the two collaborators thanking Dobet for her inspiration.
Originally a studio project, the two artists recently met in Washington, DC and performed “Pearls” together for the first time in a special concert honoring Dr. Martin Luther King held at the John F. Kennedy Center. President Obama spoke at the events and the entire first family was in attendance.
Cumbancha founder and host of the new television program Music Voyager, Jacob Edgar, brought Dobet, India.Arie, and Cumbancha label mate Idan Raichel together while in DC to film for Music Voyager’s Road to a Grammy special. Check out the three artists performing Dobet Gnahoré‘s song “Palea” at Cue Recording Studios.
Congratulations to Dobet Gnahoré on her Grammy!
