New York Times music reviewer, Jon Pareles, includes Rokia Traoré‘s album Tchamantché among his list of the top records of 2009. About the album, Pareles writes: “It’s rare for an African star to sing as quietly as Rokia Traoré does on Tchamantché, and rarer for any singer to show such preternatural grace.” Tchamantché is joined on the list by albums from Green Day, U2, and Imogen Heap.
