Jairo Zavala aka DePedro is best known as a ringer and session man on guitar. He has tenured with Amparanoia, Spanish instrumental surfers Los Coronas and the Arizona-based rock band Calexico. “DePedro” his first outing as a front man, reveals his eclectic musical upbringing, as he listened both to the rock that was popular in Spain as he grew up, along with the music his Peruvian father brought back from Latin America and Africa. The music of “La Memoria” is a subtle mix of Latin American and Spanish flavors, and the song itself was inspired by the social inequities Zavala witnessed on a trip to Mexico.
