LOVANO’S WINGS CLIPPED IN FULL FLIGHT
I’d like to personally thank everyone for their concern and good wishes for my speedy recovery. I am doing fine and with the focus and attention I am receiving from my love and guardian-angel Judi Silvano I’ll be back on the international scene shortly.
I had two unfortunate accidents while on tour with my Nonet this fall. The first, in Lausanne, Switzerland after an inspired performance at the Festival there on October 31st, which led to a second mishap in Barcelona, Spain on November 3rd.
All the folks from “The Project” at the Barcelona Jazz Festival came to my aid and got me to Quiron Hospital where the masterful work of my surgeon, Dr. Andreu Combalia, repaired the Humerus bone in both upper arms on Friday, November 6th. Judi was also on hand to supervise the Supervisors, so to speak, and got me home!
I’d like to thank the cats in my Nonet and also my family for their love and assistance through all of this, Scott Southard, Tom Korkidis and everyone at IMN who helped coordinate everything.
There are new lessons to be learned out here, around each and every corner and upon reflection I am full of renewed inspiration and gratitude.
I am on the road to recovery and working out lots of ideas that will manifest themselves into my personal stories on the bandstand and beyond. I feel all of your love and support and it touches me deeply. Thanks again!
Musically yours,
JOE LOVANO
