Bassist Esperanza Spalding was featured last February as part of a Stevie Wonder tribute at the White House. At 24 years old, she never expected to be playing for the likes of President Barack Obama, saying “It was awesome, man! It was a blessing, really inspiring to be in there to play music.”
A recent article profiled Spaulding’s journey from growing up in Portland OR, to her experience at Berklee College of Music, to her recent and growing popularity.
