Rokia Traore Wins Songlines Best Artist for Tchamantché

Songlines announces the winners of the inaugural Songlines Music Awards which recognizes outstanding talent in world music. There are four categories: Best Artist, Best Group, Cross-Cultural Collaboration and Newcomer, the nominees were chosen by a public vote. The list of 16 nominees and winners can be seen at www.songlines.co.uk/awards2009. The winners have been chosen by the Songlines editorial team and will be announced in the magazine’s next issue.
