…and to Sheffield, London, Glasgow, and Wales. Kathy and the band just completed their first tour of the UK in more than 10 years, to rave reviews and enthusiastic audiences.Among the many highlights on the 2-week excursion: performing at the Park & Dare Theatre, built inside a miners’ union hall in Treorchy, Wales (the “West Virginia” of British Isles), a candlelit performance in London’s Union Chapel, and two glorious, collaborative Transatlantic Session shows in Glasgow, featuring Celtic and Bluegrass musicians from both sides of the Atlantic in a 3-hour jam session for capacity crowds in the Royal Concert Hall (and now a television special for BBC Scotland).Plans for a return visit are already in the works.
After a whirlwind trip to the Grammy Awards show in Los Angeles, Kathy is back on the road, playing shows, and heading to Memphis for the annual Folk Alliance conference. There she will present “My Coal Journey”, her multi-media musical slideshow discussion of the research for, making of, and environmental issues surrounding the “COAL” album.
The Spring ’09 tour is once again covering lots of the country, from the Tarrytown Music Hall near NYC, featuring special guest, David Wilcox (a big shout out to our NewYawkers!), across the Northeast, the South, and out to UC Riverside in California. Hope to see you all at a show near you soon!!
