Kathy Mattea Wants Conversation About Coal
By: Tad Dickens
Singing has gotten Kathy Mattea a long way in life. Her smooth, dark, versatile voice has graced hit songs, brought awards and enabled her to transition away from the Nashville, Tenn., music machine with grace.
But these days, she is at least as interested in talking as she is in singing. She’ll be doing both on Thursday and Friday at Jefferson Center.
Mattea is scheduled to perform on Friday at Jefferson Center’s Shaftman Performance Hall. But first, she’ll give a presentation called “My Coal Journey” on Thursday, for an Earth Summit that the Jefferson has planned with the Clean Valley Council.
