It’s party time with the 15th Annual California WorldFest

It’s common to observe and comment on the world situation. It’s less common to envision how an ideal world might be. It’s truly rare to take an ideal vision and manifest it in reality. The California WorldFest has grown into, not just a music festival, but Dan DeWayne and Christine Myers’ four-day manifestation of an ideal world.

Start with over 100 musicians performing on eight stages over four days, mix in dancing, workshops, camping, crafts, games, parades, international foods, tai chi and yoga all set in the tall pines of the Nevada County Fairgrounds and you have a utopian dream world that, now its 15th year, many have come to schedule their summers around.

The stellar talent and festival layout represent a vision for what a music festival can be that DeWayne and Myers have honed for over 25 years as event producers. Dan joined in starting the Strawberry Music Festival and pioneered the concept of bringing the bluegrass festival formula (where most of the audience camps out and plays music themselves) to a wider audience. Strawberry spawned a host of festivals using the same formula that are now some of the most successful in the country (High Sierra Festival, the Live Oak Festival, Reggae on the River come to mind). With the California WorldFest Dan and Christine are working to take it to the next level. It’s visionary work.

Dan DeWayne has once again put together an amazing lineup for the 2011 California WorldFest. Here’s a snapshot of some of the headliners:

India.Arie & Idan Raichel
Fresh off their featured performance at the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony in Norway, the incomparable neo-soul diva India.Arie joins with Israel’s superstar Idan Raichel in a stunning “Open Door” WorldFest collaboration. Rooted in R&B, Soul, Motown, blues and committed to the post hip-hop urban events of today, India.Arie continues to reinvent herself while staying true to her passion for acceptance and unity. Idan Raichel has been called a one man Middle East peace envoy taking his message for human rights and decency around the world. Hold on to your hats, this promises to be a WorldFest legend!
