Called “one of the leading ladies in jazz” by the Evening Standard (UK) Tineke Postma is a veteran in Dutch and international jazz circles. During her studies at the Conservatory in Amsterdam, she received two scholarships to study at the Manhattan School of Music in New York where she studied with Dick Oatts, David Liebman and Chris Potter. She graduated in 2003 from the Conservatory and has taught there since 2005.

Tineke plays fresh, modern jazz, inspired by Wayne Shorter, Cannonball Adderly, John Coltrane, Miles Davis and other greats, without neglecting her own creativity. As the New York Times said “Tineke means what she plays.”

De Downbeat Poll 2012 has listed Tineke as Rising Star #5 in the soprano saxophone category and #10 for alto sax.

REVIEWS

I’ve had the pleasure of watching Tineke grow and develop into a formidable force on the jazz saxophone and this new CD is her best yet. The compositions provide the perfect palette for the synergistic creative expression of this particular quartet and I’m happy I was a part of it!
Terri Lyne Carrington

…Postma is poised to take her rightful place among the “best and brightest” jazz stars on the contemporary international scene.
Allegro

Postma demonstrates an unusual ability to infuse melodic statements with expressive nuance. Her improvisations display a measured sense of development with no lapses into flashiness for its own sake.
