PHJB Initiates New Orleans' Musician Relief FundSeptember 7th -- In the aftermath of Hurrican Katrina Preservation Hall has established a relief fund for New Orleans Musicians, who have been left homeless and jobless by the disaster, to get them back on their feet and to help the music stay alive, called "Do You Know What it Means...". Proceeds will be donated from the sale of t-shirts emblazoned with the Crescent City slogan made famous by native son Louis Armstrong "Do you know what it means....(to miss New Orleans)" and through direct contributions. Preservation Hall has created this effort to ensure the continuation of the tradition of New Orleans' great cultural export of joyous music and timeless sounds. During this challenging time in the city's history, Preservation Hall is dedicated to a positive resolution for those musicians affected by Hurricane Katrina and launches this initiative with a deep reverence and consciousness of its mission to the greater New Orleans community.
